Trying out Final Fantasy VI Empty Trying out Final Fantasy VI

Post by RYCloud92 Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:57 am

Just downloaded it for the PSP/PS3, I'm going to post what parts I'm up to and what I think of the plot/game mechanics so far.

Currently got up to the point with Locke meeting Terra, enjoying the story so far. Only complaint is the text boxes squishing together two different characters text into one box. (not a big problem just a bit odd)

UPDATE

Climbing a mountain with Edgar, Terra and Locke. Bought them all sprint shoes and new equipment.

As long as the text doesn't overlap, you should be fine.

I've still yet to play this for very long. I get a few minutes into it, then lose a bit of interest, mostly cause I only have the ROM on my computer. I don't like computer games.

Well as I said in the PSP thread it is on PSN Store to buy. Should be able to put it on your PSP.

Anyway stuck on the first fight where you play as Lich, gotta call it a night cause I have work tomorrow.

Got past that fight, reached the resistant now I'm on the raft part. Enjoying the story so far and the game style is simple enough.

I adore this game. Second favorite behind IX.

You're coming up (or have already passed) my favorite portion of the game being Sabin and his crew on the Phantom Train.

Terra's gone Esper at the moment, gotta track her down

Really enjoying characters and the story at the moment, battle system is good. Only thing I'm not enjoying is Gau

I like that part BTW, especially using the Surplex on the train itself.

Going to go on it tonight, reached this town and they told me Terra went Northwards. Traveling with Locke, Celes, Sabin and Shadow (left the others to defend Bannon).

Also forgot to mention that as soon as I have beaten this I will turn my attention to Final Fantasy V.

The Opera House is one of the most famous Final Fantasy moments ever. It's a really great scene.

Gau is my most hated character in this game next to Umaro and Gogo. Gogo was useful at a portion of the game to Mimic other characters but loses his use at the end game. Umaro is a useless character because you have no control over him. Gau is the same way however if you get him to the Veldt every so often, he is the game's strongest character depending on what monster you have him fight as. But he's just such a stupid character.

Yeah I'm not loving to much on Gau.

Anyway I've come back to it from months of college and other stuff. I know before I last played it I had just revived Terra and was grinding magic skills using the espers but I have no clue where to go next (curse you college). Any refresh my memory.

Uh, you revived Terra. You got the Blackjack right? I think the next thing is you'll be going to the Esper Cavern that's due East of the Empire. You must have Terra in the party I believe and then any other 3 characters. Go through the cavern then you'll be forced to go to an island with Locke, Terra and a third surprise character.

I've tried to go there but theres a base blocking it and it's full of Guards. Even with Terra as leader, I'm guessing theres something I've not done.

UPDATE

Never mind, figured out I had to go to Narshe first.

BTW, really important you know this.

So in a little bit, you're going to a dungeon called the Floating Island. You'll be forced to make a party of 3 then you'll meet a 4th character on the island. After going through the island and making it to a certain point, the 4th character leaves the party, a story moment happens and you have a time limit to escape the island before it's destroyed. When you get to the final edge of the island, you'll see the Blackjack waiting for you. DON'T GET ON YET! Stand right before you're given the option to jump and stay still until like the final 10 seconds, that 4th party member will rejoin you and you'll all get on the Blackjack. If you don't wait for that party member, s/he's gone FOREVER. And truth be told, this character is one of the best in terms of stats and equipment.

Been awhile. After finalling getting all that College stuff and other things out of the way I've decided to pick VI back up.

Just got through Atma Weapon (guessing it's Ultimate weapon but the game translated weird) and seen the world end at Kefka's hands (eat that Sephiroth). Playing as Celes at the moment and found Sabin. Also bumped into Mama Terra but she doesn't want to join the fight at the moment.

Oh yeah as a side note please don't tell me Mog is a secret character I have to get early on because if so I've missed him.

I thought you could pick him up whenever

He should be in the caves in Narshe, I think you just missed getting the Moogle Charm (which is SUPER useful to get up the Fanatics Tower).

Right just got back on this since, who knows how long.

Went back to the tomb and got the exp.egg for Celes. And have now found my way to Mt. Zozo. Beat the Strm Dragon who was a pain the ass, if it wasn't for Sabin's Bum Rush I'd be f*cked.

So far still loving everything about it, I've heard that I'm going to be reuniting with Cyan soon and I've also heard that getting Locke is one of the biggest pains in the ass ever but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

_____________

UPDATE

Got Shadow, Relm and Strago back, also found Mog and at the moment. Trying to figure out how to get Terra back then I will continue my search for Locke.
